- Mary Oliver
Informed by one's body and mind, I help humans make sense of their experience in the world, their stories, and their innate power to heal from past wounds and change outdated narratives. First and foremost, I believe therapy should include a trusting and safe relationship with the Psychotherapist. I am a human too, struggling to make sense of this crazy world and I, too, experience relationships and life as hard! I have so much empathy for those of us willing to make the world a more peaceful place, by first making our internal world more peaceful.
I see clients with a range of concerns, from anxiety and depression, postpartum mood disorders, parental and family stress, eating disorders, alcohol issues, adjusting to life transitions and/or significant events, grief, and a range of trauma related disorders. However, my focus is never on diagnosing. Instead, I prefer to meet the person behind the behaviors and attempt to fully understand all the layers that make you unique.
I use a variety of modalities, including Mindfulness, Polyvagal Theory, EMDR, Internal Family Systems and even a bit of spirituality, which may include astrology if interested. One of the translations of the word psyche is soul or spirit. I believe in the power of mystery, the shadow side, and imagination and it's role in our healing journeys. I pull inspiration from Yalom, Martha Beck, Mr. Rogers, and Kristin Neff.
